The Water of Life June 28, 2019
Providing clean water for children in need is one of our best opportunities to impact their future. Clean water frees up time for school and play. It also promotes health, keeping kids out of the hospital and even saving lives. Ask any clean water organization about their purpose, and their answer will include those two things: time and health.
But for us, there’s a third reason we’re committed to clean water, and it’s the most important reason of all: the Gospel! You see, giving children clean water is an amazing opportunity to share with them about the Living Water! Here’s how it works: (more…)
The Water Walk June 10, 2019
Every morning, 12-year-old Diana gets up with the sun. Before she can go to school, she has to get water for her family.
Diana lives in Salgaa, a densely populated town in Kenya. It’s a truck stop for long-distance drivers, but most of the residents – like Diana’s family – are farmers. Her dad drives a tractor, but most of his pay goes to cover rent on their small house. There is very little left for food, clothes, or school fees for Diana and her siblings.
Worst of all, there’s no money left for water.
Which is why Diana gets up early every morning (more…)
5 Reasons Why Water Matters May 28, 2019
If you can, try to count how many times a day you turn on a tap. As I write this, it’s not even 9am, and I’m already up to seven. I’ve taken a shower, flushed a toilet, washed my hands, made coffee, rinsed my cereal bowl, and gotten a glass of water. Clean, running water is so readily available to us, it’s almost impossible to understand what life is like without clean water access.
But in developing countries, many people still don’t have access to clean water, even today. And it’s more than just an inconvenience: every 90 seconds, a child dies from diseases spread by dirty water. That’s why water is one of our best opportunities to improve children’s lives. Here’s how:
1. Clean water is health.
Without running water, families turn to whatever water sources they can find. (more…)

Solomon’s Key to Success? Water! June 29, 2018
Stephen and Solomon are two brothers living in Olenkasurai, Kenya. In many ways, their life is idyllic. They live with their loving parents and spend their days in school and helping their dad graze the sheep.
But alongside that idyllic pastoral scene, they live with the horrors of poverty. And the biggest horror of all is the water they drink.
Why Water? June 22, 2018
Water is one of life’s most basic necessities. But 1 in 9 people worldwide live without access to clean water. And sadly, children are the most vulnerable. It’s been estimated that a child dies from water-related disease every 90 seconds. They deserve better. Not only do they deserve better, but we are called to do something about it! Why? Take a look… (more…)
Why Water? May 8, 2017
Here at Childcare Worldwide, we care a lot about clean water. It is imperative that the kids we serve have access to safe water. The cost of not meeting this basic need is simply too high.
Here’s a look at the top 5 reasons why clean water is important:
Wondering about water August 17, 2016
For many countries such as Kenya and Uganda, finding clean water to drink can be a challenge. I don’t think I have ever gone to Africa without seeing the ubiquitous scene of a child crouching near a dirty stream or pond and cupping their hands to take a drink. These are children who risk contracting waterborne illnesses, but often have no other alternative.
The truth is, every 90 seconds a child dies from a water-related disease. Water catchment systems are helping to reduce that number and we are thrilled by the many supporters who have come alongside us to help build these systems! But what are some of the details about these systems?
