In major cities in Peru, such as Lima, over 70% of the population lives in slums. People in these slums have little or no access to clean water, or sanitation. Child malnutrition is high, while school enrollment is very low. Without intervention, there is very little chance for a child living here to remain healthy, or to grow up with an education. Most of the children that we serve live in Comas, which is one of the poorest districts of Lima.
Childcare Worldwide has been working in Peru since 1985, and we have more than 600 children in our sponsorship program and enrolled in Life Centers there.
