Wow, what a year it’s been! Like me, I’m sure many of you were happy to see 2020 come to an end. The pandemic affected humanity in ways never before experienced. Through it all, God remained on the throne. What a comfort it is to know that His sovereignty is unshakeable. We prayed in 2020, a lot! And you know what? God answered those prayers. All of us at Childcare Worldwide saw Him act with amazing love over the past 12 months.

Now we enter 2021 with renewed enthusiasm and a sustained energy to continue to work on the things that the Lord has set in front of us. I’m so excited to see what God does this year!

We begin this year with new leadership. Lucas Leiro is joining us as Country Director in Kenya. Lucas comes to Childcare Worldwide with over 20 years of experience working with child sponsorship ministries in East Africa. He loves our Lord, and understands the need to provide the hope of Jesus to underprivileged children. We’re looking forward to Lucas joining the Childcare Worldwide family.

In Uganda, we will begin a pilot project to enhance our Life Center spiritual development program. From supplying Life Centers with additional tools to teach our children biblical truths, to expanding the nutritional value of Life Center meals, we will be working with our staff members, pastors, and teachers to be even more effective at sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children.

We’re excited to release a new Bible curriculum to be used by our children all over the world. This new curriculum will teach kids basic truths found in the Word of God. Lessons include everything from questions like “Who is God?”, and “Why did God create us?”, to scriptural examples that show it is His desire that we become His children and live with Him in heaven for eternity. This new curriculum will join our Christian Character Building studies that we’ve been using for several years.

We will continue to fight the battle of waterborne illness by installing more Water Catchment systems at Life Center churches, and ensuring that as many of our sponsored children have their own personal water filter to guard against the diseases that cripple them.

In 2020, we piloted a new shelter program in Uganda. Here in 2021 we will increase the construction of basic shelter for sponsored children who are homeless or live in houses that do not adequately protect them from the elements. Our Peru shelter projects will continue, and we look forward to helping several families of sponsored kids in Lima with new homes that will provide the security they need.

Finally, we are looking forward to God supplying us with hundreds of new sponsors for kids who are in dire need of spiritual and material support. The need is great, and we feel confident that the Lord will use Childcare Worldwide to create amazing connections between these children and their new sponsors. There is nothing like the moment a child learns they have a sponsor. The joy and gratitude pours out, and that’s a moment we’d like to share with as many new sponsors as possible!

Thank you for partnering with us. Your gifts are meaningful, and immensely impactful for the children in our sponsorship program. It is a privilege to be trusted by you to steward resources for the benefit of children around the world. God bless you and our sponsored children in 2021!
