Starfish Medical Emergency Fund

Childcare Worldwide's Starfish Fund  is a specific fund that provides necessary medical attention and treatments to children in our program who cannot otherwise afford medical care.

It received its name through and old story where a boy on a beach saw stranded starfish and began throwing them back into the ocean.  Told he wouldn't make a difference for the masses of starfish, he threw another critter into the water and replied, "But I will make a difference to this one!"

This is Steven Ntale from Uganda. Steven’s feet were seriously deformed. He walked with difficulty and was limited in physical activity. Since operative surgeries and other medical costs are not part of our budget, we resorted to our Starfish Fund. Because of this fund, we were able to arrange for Steven's feet to be straightened. The Starfish Fund gave Steven a new quality of life.
