Leadership Staff
G. Max Lange, Ph D. - President
Max and his wife Marlies founded Childcare Worldwide in 1981. The first office was their bedroom in their home in Glendale, California. Max was born and raised in Germany. His experiences during the Nazi days and subsequent conversion to Christianity in Liberia, West Africa, are the subject of his first book "Into All The World." For 17 years, Max worked for the LeTourneau organization, rising to Assistant to the President of R.G. LeTourneau Inc., and Secretary-Treasurer of the LeTourneau Foundation. The roots of Childcare Worldwide go back to those days and the contacts that were made in his worldwide travels.
He is a graduate of a German business school. In the US he has earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Communication. The Langes have two daughters and two grandchildren.

Having a heart for impoverished children, she is committed to being a part of this ministry that provides opportunities for children to survive and succeed. In her recent travels to Uganda and Kenya, she witnessed the difference that an education makes for citizens of these two developing countries. This experience strengthened her desire and resolve to participate in helping impoverished people in developing countries gain an education and break the cycle of poverty within their families and communities.

Susan Middleton – V.P. Administration
Susan had worked for a secular, non-profit organization for over 15 years when the Lord started to stir her heart to work for Him. He opened the door for her to Childcare Worldwide in 2001, and she walked through it as the Director of Administration. She could see at once how the Lord had prepared her for the new position with all the things she had learned at her previous job. She has a heart to help children survive and succeed with the gifts and talents the Lord has given her.
She has lived in the Pacific Northwest all her life. She is married, has two married sons, a daughter in college and a teenage son. In her spare time she and her husband, who is a missionary pastor with Bikers for Christ, minister to bikers. They also enjoy gardening and traveling.

Kurt Swanson - Director of U.S. Ministries (which includes The Ugandan Orphans Choir and the Ambassador Program)
Kurt began working with Childcare Worldwide in the summer of 2009. While doing a study on generosity and stewardship, God gave him a burden to help underprivileged children through child sponsorship. That led him to contact Childcare, which led to the launching of the Ambassador program. Kurt also works with the Ugandan Orphans Choir, which he is very excited about because the choir’s main focus is child sponsorship.
Kurt is a lifelong Bellingham resident and is married with 4 kids and 3 grandchildren. Kurt has been in the real estate business for 20 years and is still actively involved with The Swanson Group at Windermere Real Estate.
Childcare Worldwide (CCW), formerly, Childcare International (CCI) is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Contributions are fully tax deductible.
